SPIRITUAL EDUCATION
Knowledge about our spiritual nature (ādhyātmika jñāna) is the highest form of wisdom. It births itself through inner experience and brings reward through deep understanding of universal truth and achieving harmony with the universe. Spiritual education constitutes an inseparable part of our ancient Tradition, allowing aspirants to develop spiritually and quicken the process of internalizing spiritual practices and recognized values.
The correct understanding of the laws governing our lives enables us to understand the nature of cause and effect in this world. It allows us to consciously create our lives in all areas. Four areas (ćaturvarga) describe the goal of life (puruṣārtha). These are: artha – material wealth, also encompassing security; kāma – love and sensual satisfaction; dharma – adhering to universal laws and values; and mokṣa – self-awareness (ātmajñāna), equating to the realization of the Ultimate Reality.
Fulfillment in life is achieved by integrating all of the above goals – abandoning „spiritual” and „material” division. In principle, every area of life can be classified as sacred or profane, but this should only be understood in the context of awareness with which we engage in a set activity. For example, the ringing of temple bells may be devoid of spirituality, and constitute only an „empty” act. At the same time, sexual unity of lovers may emanate a spiritually „uplifting” energy.
Every deed and action (karma) brings fruits (phala). They can be pleasant and inspiring or they can be negative, degrading. This depends on the intention and nature of the deeds and actions. When an action is motivated by egoic motives, it gives new reason to birth new unpleasant results. Causing negative experiences reflects the state of ignorance and forms chaos and suffering in life. This in turn, closes the path of discovering our true, eternally happy and spiritual nature.
The basis of a fulfilled life is the internal experience of happiness (ānanda). The more we become free from our ego (āhaṃkāra), the more happiness and peace becomes part of us. This knowledge (jñāna) makes us live happy lives in close relationships, experiencing prosperity, enabling us to realize ourselves in our career and socially. This strengthens us in our ethical stance and raises our spiritual freedom (svatantratā). This is why proper education is so important. Such education should contain a practical element that allows for real advancement on the path of realizing Humanness. In our Tradition, this is a synonym of Divinity.
At SŪRYA KĀNAN, as part of our spiritual education, we organize cyclical meetups and off-site workshops dedicated to instilling practical methods of developing skills and acquiring competencies in the four areas (ćaturvarga) described above. These are the areas that define the aims of our life (puruṣārtha). We specifically pay attention to the area of kāma – close and intimate relations, being the foundation of personal, spiritual evolution. It is also the foundation of building healthy social ties and supports the law of dharma, maintaining balance in the universe. If you want to get know the details and dates of such meetups, workshops and practical activities, contact us.
